Suspenders
I remember throughout college studying in History of Art the depth and meaning behind countless paintings. I absolutely loved taking apart all the pieces and figuring out the meaning and symbolism behind every detail. To this day I carry those lessons with me; particularly the lines. Lines that draw attention to your face or away from areas that may make you self conscious are obvious, but there is a fine balance as to where one line, or seam, or chain, or belt, should cross another to make a perfect harmony.
Over time it starts to become second nature to create this type of equation. However, my thought process behind this outfit was: the suspenders that break the hem line of the shorts and almost (yet not quite,) reach the boots. The front of the blouse tucked in creates a waistline and the untucked back makes it disappear along with the suspenders. Finally, the necklaces create two separate lines, one curved, the other a triangle.
Just think, when your necklace hits the seam of the empire waist dress you have on, “Did I want these two lines to touch?” Symmetry and perfection are overrated. It becomes much more pleasing to look at when lines are broken.
This isn’t amateur hour. We are all becoming serious fashionistas here.

why do you wear cross necklaces? Aren’t you turkish?

I think incorporating all cultural influences is a great part of fashion. Right now tribal prints and jewelry and caftans are in style but do not necessarily define who you are or your ethnic background. Also, being Turkish doesn’t define my religion or beliefs.
