What Glitters In The Dark?

Even thought I don’t have rules, I have a tendency, (a tendency isn’t the same as a rule right?) to dislike garments that have a pattern in the front, that stops dead at the seam connecting it to the back half of the piece. What happened? It’s like they ran out of fabric, or, more likely, they decided they could make twice as many of the item, for a fraction of the price.  Needless to say, I might absolutely adore the front of a top but if it makes no effort continue on to the back or there is no logical reasoning as to why the design stops then I refuse to own it. This happens to me most often with sequined pieces; tops dresses, etc.

I began my search for a sequin blazer right before New Years Eve, I figured it would be perfect for such an occasion. Plus, no one else in the room would be wearing the same thing. After countless hours and endless amounts of internet searching, which I’ve become exceptional at, my best friend Courtney and I found this blazer on Urban Outfitters’ website, for originally over $100 on sale for $50. Ok $50 is not bad but I was debating… how many times will I wear this? If it was in a vending machine and I wore it twice, would I be willing to pay $25 per wear?  Later that same week, (I realize this is becoming a short story) I walked into the store where it had an extra discount so it was being sold for $29.50. WHOOPIE!! Did you just feel overcome by joy too? 

(I’ve worn this blazer three times now, so next time I wear it, it’ll be down to $7.50 per wear)

Moral of the story, check out both the store and online for pieces held in these types of stores, you never know when they will be having an in-store sale or online discount.
